The third generation of Concentriq for Research helps life sciences organizations securely scale digital pathology adoption across the enterprise by providing a singular workspace for multi-site teams, new ways to leverage data, and advanced tools for streamlining workflows.

Life sciences organizations are generating massive amounts of pathology data at the heart of their research. But with millions of new images and increasingly complex data comes the need to ensure people, data, and technologies are connected to keep up with the pace of scientific advancement. COVID-19 has also shaped how life sciences organizations approach getting their work done, and in many ways, digital tools that facilitate sharing and collaboration are now critical to ensuring ongoing operations.

The third generation of Concentriq for Research, which is available today, delivers compelling innovations and brings to life user-inspired functionality in one of our biggest updates to date. It includes new features and enhancements that further centralize pathology operations across the enterprise, helping pharmaceutical, biopharma, and contract research organizations (CROs) to take collaborative, data-driven image-based research to a whole new level. Concentriq for Research now offers:

  • A singular workspace for day-to-day pathology work that improves collaboration and keeps teams up-to-date
  • New ways to leverage existing data to drive visibility, unlock new insights, and maximize the value of pathology data at scale
  • Advanced tools that streamline workflows and increase the efficiency of everyday tasks
  • Enhanced enterprise scalability and security

A centralized workspace improves collaboration and keeps single and multi-site teams up-to-date

As research teams amass growing volumes of pathology data and rely on increasingly sophisticated ecosystems of applications, the need for a unified platform for day-to-day work becomes all the more essential. Concentriq for Research now provides a singular workspace with new capabilities like in-app notifications and enhanced data sharing that build upon its data management, best-in-class interoperability, automation, and user management to expand its robust feature set.

In-app notifications provide instant insight and visibility into what’s going on throughout the platform. Notifications are generated for a wide-variety of system events, such as when an image repository is shared. With the ability to opt in or out, you can configure your notifications to minimize unnecessary distraction while staying connected with your team and attuned to tasks and updates that require attention.

The introduction of user groups is a major enhancement to the platform’s sharing capabilities. User groups enable users to share image repositories with multiple members of a team at once. This is not only a faster way to share data but also simplifies the process of getting new team members set up, ensuring immediate access to the data they need as you scale your digital implementation.

Table view and virtual copying offer new ways to leverage data

The third generation of Concentriq for Research makes it even easier for teams to intuitively access and visualize their data. The platform now enables users to view images and metadata in a table view. This side-by-side layout gives them a bird’s-eye view of all the data within an image repository so that quality control (QC) is as simple as scrolling through a list. With this added visibility, researchers can identify impactful trends and patterns in just a few clicks to unlock new insights.

Another powerful feature that has been introduced in this release is the ability to create virtual copies of images. Now, users can create copies of repositories, folders, or individual images with different metadata from the original; however, even though they appear as duplicates to users from the front-end, there is no increase in image storage on the back-end. With this functionality, existing datasets can be leveraged in new ways to maximize data potential.

Enhancements to existing tools and functionality increase efficiency of everyday tasks

We’ve also made a number of notable improvements to existing tools within the platform to help streamline workflows and drive efficiency. The new snapshot tool allows users to achieve even more precision, removing the need for external image editing. Additional keyboard shortcuts have been added for faster image viewing and data interaction. The entire annotation toolset has also been upgraded with additional capabilities.

Other updates

The release includes a handful of other enhancements for securely expanding digital pathology adoption across single and multi-site teams:

  • Support for Olympus .vsi image file formats
  • Ability to duplicate metadata field templates
  • Security updates
  • Image upload updates
  • UX updates
